This 1960 Gibson Melody Maker D Sunburst is a true rarity, sought after by collectors and players alike. It represents a unique moment in Gibson's history, combining the desirable features of the 1959 model with the innovative double pickup design of 1960.

This guitar boasts two fat single coil pickups from the 1959 model, known for their rich, full sound. This early configuration is highly prized, as Gibson soon transitioned to smaller, less desirable pickups.

Cosmetically it has the odd minor dent or scratch, some buckle rash and some tarnished hardware.

The neck also features a narrow peghead.

Rosewood Board, One Piece Mahogany Body, Three Piece Mahogany Neck with Volute. Original Pickups, Two Tone and Two Volume controls with Pickup Selector Switch.

Marked with a pre-serial C and a 2 indicating a 'second', this instrument also has changed Schaller Tuners from the Gibson Kluson replicas. Bridge also appears to have been replaced.
