A Candy-Coated Dream
This 1967 Fender Stratocaster is a visual masterpiece, cloaked in a luscious Candy Apple Red finish that shimmers and gleams under the light. Small chips in the red lacquer near the bottom edge reveal hints of Daphne Blue beneath.
Preserved in remarkable shape, this Stratocaster remains in great playing condition. The alder body resonates with a balanced tone, complemented by a classic 3-ply white pickguard. The bridge, original patent-pending saddles and the mix of black and grey bottom pickups, all dated January 1967, ensure an authentic vintage sound.
Jimi Hendrix Era Time Capsule
The single-piece maple neck, dated "13 FEB 66 B", features the large headstock and transition logo characteristic of the era. Its Brazilian rosewood fretboard, adorned with mother-of-pearl dots and original large factory frets, offers a smooth playing experience and exceptional tonal response.
The February 1966 neck date and the two paint applications suggest this guitar's journey began as a custom colour Daphne Blue Stratocaster. It leads to the distinct possibility that the original order for that blue guitar was not fulfilled. Consequently, Fender refinished the body in the factory, first applying a gold undercoat followed by the final Candy Apple Red coat.
